The Co-operative Societies Act, 2011, makes new provision in respect to the registration, supervision, governance, operation and management of the Co-operative Societies including Credit Unions.

For the purposes of regulating the Credit Union, the Banking and Government National Reserve is the Registrar.

All  Credit Unions are required to submit monthly prudential returns to the Banking and Government National Reserve.

The functions of Co-operative Societies are governed by the Co-operative Societies Act, the Co-operative Societies Regulations, and the Society’s own by-laws.
